McMillan responds to UK Budget

Stuart McMillan MSP has commented on the UK Budget, stating:

“Here we have a second budget from this Labour UK Government which instead of delivering the change their party promised voters, will once again have a damaging impact on many people across the UK.

“This includes plans to progress with Digital ID, more expensive nuclear power, and a mileage-based charge for electric and plug-in hybrid car drivers from 2028.

“I do however welcome the £20m investment for Inchgreen which builds upon the £11m City Deal investment already made at the site. The City Deal investment was always aimed at turning a near derelict site into one of an income generator for the community. Any investment into Inchgreen helps to make this happen.

“I’m aware there has been a great deal of interest in the site in recent years but no new business has come in. This additional investment may help.

“I also welcome the removal of the two child cap, otherwise known as the Rape Clause. This is something the SNP have campaigned against since the Conservatives introduced it, as this cruel policy punished women and children.”
